Introduction viral encephalitis
This disease, known as ‘NK Filitis’ in Western science, is usually caused by a virus infection. In this, the brain gets swollen. This infection can also affect the central nervous system, meninges, and spinal cord. It is known by the names of cerebral inflammation, typhus fever, encephalitis lethargica,a etc. Japanese encephalitis is a deadly viral disease spread by mosquitoes,s especially in children up to 15 years of age or people above 60 years of age.
The increasing outbreak and types of brain fever have spread fear among the general public. Every day newspapers are giving news of the spread of this disease in new areas. Not only the common citizens but also the medical community is worried about the spread of this disease. Complete information regarding the symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of the disease has not been obtained yet. The entire work is going on in the direction of further research.

This disease is not new to India and the world. It first attacked Japan (Japanese encephalitis). This disease spread many times between 1871 and 1935. After that, it spread to many countries of Asia. According to experts in India, this disease has been present since the sixth decade and has terrorized people. At present, it is spreading rapidly in the flood-affected areas of rivers in northern India due to dirt and mosquito breeding.
Cause of viral encephalitis
The most important cause of brain fever in India is Japanese Encephalitis. In the last few years, it spread in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in an infectious form. Thousands of children became victims of physical and mental disability due to this disease. The host of the vile of Japanese brain fever are pigs found in streets and slums. And often this virus is found in abundance in pigs and some other animals. This disease can occur in humans mainly due to the bite of a mosquito called Culex. Culex mosquitoes usually grow in stagnant water such as water collected in pits in paddy fields. Symptoms of the disease appear after 5 to 15 days of mosquito bite.
The outbreak of this disease increases in summer and rainy season. However, only one child among 300 to 400 children suffering from this disease has its fatal symptoms. If someone has got this disease once, then the chances of getting it again are very less.
There is a possibility of getting encephalitis after the attack of polio, herpes, mumps, measles, measles etc.
